Every year Greenville earns a place on a national Top Ten list. Now the city might claim another honor: Josh Corns from Escape Artist Greenville is a nominee for "Game Master of the Year - 2020" from escapetheroomers.com, a site that reviews escape rooms and games from all over the world. Your votes can make the difference. Escape Artist's "The Starlight Motel" scenario, featuring Josh as Lou the manager, is a wonderfully entertaining and totally immersive experience. It is easily the best escape room I've been to, and Josh is an integral part of it. His role of Game Master demands that he ensure each adventure is set up flawlessly and on time. I recently asked him about his time at the critically-acclaimed escape room. HAINT MISBEHAVIN'': How long have you been with Escape Artist Greenville? JOSH: I have been working at Escape Artist since September of 2016! I kind of just applied on a whim thinking it would be a fun way to earn some extra money, but quickly realized how much I loved doing it! HM: Your performance in Starlight Motel is a big part of what makes that room so terrific. What acting/improv experience did you have before you began Game Mastering? JOSH: NONE! I had never acted a day in my life, but I quickly realized how much fun it was, and how it can elevate an already amazing escape room! HM: What makes Starlight Motel different than most other rooms? JOSH: Starlight Motel is a hybrid of Haunted house meets escape room. I think what sets this experience apart from most is the complete immersion you feel from the moment the game starts until the intense finale is over. The live acting component only helps to further the story and add depth and a sense of excitement that never breaks down the fourth wall! HM: Who is your favorite stage escape artist or illusionist? JOSH: Penn and Teller are classics! More recently, Shin Lim! His presentation and storytelling blow me away! HM: What do you like most about working at Escape Artist? JOSH: The amazing customers!! There is nothing like helping people create memories that will last a lifetime. I have made some really great friends in this industry and I wouldn’t trade it for the world! Also, a HUGE shoutout to all of our staff. I honestly believe every single one of our guides could have been nominated as Game Master of the Year and it would be 100 percent justified! You can help him win the worldwide contest for "Game Master of the Year." Simply click on the video of Josh below - then LIKE and COMMENT on his Youtube video. If you both like AND comment it counts as two separate votes! Voting ends December 25th at midnight.
